Case Referrals System

SMF plans to develop a referral system and database for possible Surfer's Myelopathy cases. Upon admittance to a participating hospital, newly diagnosed patients will receive an information packet that will include an information fact sheet on surfer's myelopathy, list of resources available in the USA and Hawaii, and a Patient Information Sheet. The referral system will be a fundamental element in tracking cases to increase documentation, reporting, and research as well as to help build the SM community for patient support.

The mission of Surfer’s Myelopathy Foundation is to increase the awareness of surfer’s myelopathy in order to provide support and to promote injury prevention, research, and treatment.
