Case Referrals System

SMF plans to develop a referral system and database for possible Surfer’s Myelopathy cases. Upon admittance to a participating hospital, newly diagnosed patients will receive an information packet that will include an information fact sheet on surfer’s myelopathy, list of resources available in the USA and Hawaii, and a Patient Information Sheet. The referral system will be a fundamental element in tracking cases to increase documentation, reporting, and research as well as to help build the SM community for patient support.
